Welcome to the Dear Food Podcast! In this episode, we explore the journey towards improved health, finding joy, and achieving food freedom. Taking a moment for self-care is a significant victory in our busy lives, and I'm grateful that you've joined me today.
Celebrating Victories
Before we dive into the main topic, let's take a moment to celebrate your victories. The Lord grants us triumphs, and I'd love to hear about your success stories in pursuing health, joy, and food freedom. Please share your victories by emailing me at julia@onesteptowellness.com. Your stories can inspire and encourage listeners worldwide. Let's spread the word about the incredible gifts the Lord bestows upon us through personal victories!
Finding Guidance in God
Today, I want to share a victory from Lil. A., who left a review for Workbook 2 on Amazon. Lil. A. shares how turning to God for guidance empowered her to find the right plan for her body. Congratulations, Lil. A.! Your victory inspires us all to persevere in overcoming food and diet culture challenges. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
Chapter One: "Is This Really Going to Work?"
In Chapter One of "Dear Food, I Love You. I Hate You. Don't Leave Me!" Workbook One, we tackle the common question of whether a new diet program will truly work. Past perceived failures can make us hesitant to try again. I understand this struggle, having experienced yo-yo dieting throughout my life. If you're seeking a sustainable plan for healthy eating, it means you haven't given up. But you may still feel stuck.
Seeking Solace in Scripture
When feeling stuck, I turn to the Bible for solace and guidance. Philippians 3:13-14 reminds us to forget the past, press on toward our goals, and embrace the prizes that God has called us to in Christ Jesus. Through prayer, we invite God into our journey, trusting that He has a beautiful plan for our lives.
Benefits of Overcoming Food Strongholds
Instead of solely focusing on why we want to eat healthy, let's shift our perspective and consider the benefits that await us when we break free from unhealthy eating habits. Take a moment to envision the positive changes you'll experience once you overcome your food strongholds. Write down these benefits as a reminder and display them where you can see them frequently.
God's Promise and Seeking His Way Out
1 Corinthians 10:13 assures us that no temptation is unique and that God will provide a way out when we face temptations. When tempted by unhealthy food choices, make it a habit to turn to God for an alternative, seeking His guidance and provision.
Inviting God's Vision for Your Body
Have you ever asked God what He desires for your body? Instead of relying solely on external sources for advice, pause and communicate with God about what He believes is best for your body and overall well-being. Seek His wisdom and guidance on your journey to health and wellness.
Prayer for Wisdom
Throughout your food journey, continue seeking God's wisdom. James 1:5 assures us that if we lack wisdom, we can ask God, and He will generously provide it. Pray for wisdom and trust in God's guidance on your path to food freedom.
Conclusion
Today, we've covered a lot, and you may already be experiencing victories—victories in the form of hope and a newfound desire to invite God into your relationship with food. Celebrate these victories and display reminders of the benefits you envision as you overcome food strongholds. Remember that you have a beautiful body gift, and Jesus loves you deeply, desiring to support you on your journey to food freedom.
