Today, we have a wonderful victory shared by Jackie on Facebook. She loves our book and is working through it with two of her family members.
Creating a group and discussing the program together takes courage, but the rewards are immeasurable. Engaging with others allows us to gain wisdom and support while praying for one another, making a significant difference in our journeys. Thank you, Jackie, for your dedication, and keep up the fantastic work!
Before we dive into today's topic, let's take a moment to pray together. If you need prayer or want to connect, feel free to email me at Julia@onesteptowellness.com. Unveiling Chapter 6 (Episode 9): "I Think My Wheel of Life Has a Flat"
In today's episode, we'll explore Chapter 6 from the book "Dear Food, I Love You, I Hate You, Don't Leave Me, Workbook 1," titled "I Think My Wheel of Life Has a Flat." If you haven't got the book yet, you can find it on Amazon! Don't worry; you can still follow along without the workbook.
Many of us struggle with emotional eating, consuming food for reasons other than physical hunger. We might ask ourselves why we keep overeating or find ourselves binging again and again. The answers vary from person to person, but together, we'll explore common triggers and work towards solutions.
Every meal or snack is like a parachuter landing into the current state of our lives. Whether it's a peaceful meadow, a celebratory party, or a war zone, our food choices are influenced by our life circumstances. To address emotional eating patterns, we need to take time to understand our current situation and how it affects our food consumption.
To navigate our life's landscape and identify potential emotional eating triggers, we'll use the Wellness Wheel or Wheel of Life. This circle is divided into pie-shaped pieces, each representing an aspect of our well-being. We'll rate our current satisfaction with each area, ranging from 1 to 10, where 10 represents high satisfaction, and 1 means very dissatisfied.
Together, we'll explore different life categories:
Physical Environment
Family Life
Spiritual Well-being
Mental Health
Friendships
Personal Development
Love and Relationships
Physical Health
Fun, Hobbies, and Recreation
Money and Finances
Career and Job
By filling out the Wellness Wheel, you'll gain insight into areas that might be driving you to eat more than you need due to emotional triggers. For example, feeling lonely due to a lack of meaningful friendships might lead you to soothe those emotions with food. Identifying such patterns empowers us to find healthier alternatives to deal with emotional challenges.
Instead of turning to emotional eating, you can take small steps to boost areas of your life that need improvement. It could be as simple as reconnecting with old friends or pursuing a long-neglected hobby. Remember, food can't fix a flat in your Wheel of Life, but you and the Lord can work together to bring positive changes.
As you grow in your health, wellness, joy, and journey to food freedom, celebrate your victories. Consider maintaining a journal of your successes, acknowledging how far you've come. By sharing your positive review of the "Dear Food Workbook One" on Amazon, you can inspire others to take their first step towards freedom.
Let us conclude this episode with a prayer, asking the Lord for comfort in life's trials and guidance in increasing our life satisfaction. God has the power to transform our lives for the better, beyond what food can ever do.
May you continue to embrace your victories, grow in health and joy, and remember that Jesus loves you deeply and is eager to walk alongside you on your journey to food freedom.
Thank you for being part of the Dear Food Community, and I'll see you in the next episode.
Until then, may we be Food Faith Full together.
