Welcome to the world of the Dear Food Podcast, where health, joy, and food freedom are not just goals, but real possibilities. I'm your host, Julia Fikse, and I'm thrilled to have you here with me today. As we journey through the triumphs and challenges of wellness, one thing is clear: victories are worth celebrating.
Imagine starting each show with a moment of victory, with triumphs that resonate deeply because the Lord is good, and He grants us victory. Send your victories to Julia@OneStepToWellness.com, and together, we'll celebrate not just what you've achieved but also what God is doing in your life.
Today, let's delve into an exciting topic that touches all our hearts - the victories that each one of us has achieved. You know the ones - those victories over challenges, big or small, that make us feel like champions. In fact, let's spotlight a collective victory that I want to celebrate with all our listeners who've completed Dear Food I Love You I Hate You Don't Leave Me Workbooks 1 and 2.
To all of you who've journeyed through these workbooks, your dedication and progress are commendable. And I'm delighted to share some fantastic news: Workbook 3 is just around the corner! It's in the final stages of editing and is set to be available for purchase by early to mid-September 2023. This means that you, dear listeners, will have the perfect resource for your Fall Bible Study Groups. Let's keep the momentum going, together.
Now, let's delve into an essential topic that resonates with many - the battle against food strongholds. If you've ever found yourself standing before the pantry, grappling with desires that don't align with your wellness goals, you're not alone. It's in these moments that practical prayer becomes our anchor.
Introducing the STAY LOW acronym, a practical tool I've developed to help you navigate these tricky situations with the guidance of the Lord.
S - Seek Him: Our first step is to seek God first. As Matthew 6:33 advises, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." Practically, this means redirecting our focus from food to God. Walk away from the temptation and turn to the Lord.
T - Trust Him: Embrace the belief that God is good and will help. Hebrews 11:6 reminds us, "And without faith, it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him." Trust that God can assist in overcoming powerful emotions and challenging circumstances.
A - Ask Him: Invite God into the situation. Recognize that we need His help to navigate these challenges. This aligns with 1 Corinthians 10:13: "No temptation has overtaken you except what's common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."
Y - Yes Lord: Be open to adjusting your desires to God's best for you. Remember Jesus' example of submission in Mark 14:36: "Not my will, but Yours be done." This willingness to align with God's will strengthens our faith muscle over time.
L - Listen: Pay attention to how the Holy Spirit guides you. It could be a Scripture, a still small voice, or an encouraging message from another source that is in line with what the Word of God teaches us in the Bible. Psalm 34:4 assures us, "I sought the Lord and He answered me and rescued me from all my fears."
O - Obey: Act on the guidance received. This may involve discipline or stepping out of your comfort zone, but remember that God's ways are higher than ours.
W - Watch Him Work: Observe how God intervenes as you stay low. Be grateful for His providence and watch as He helps and works wonders in your life.
Remember, balanced eating for wellness isn't just a physical battle, it's also a spiritual one. With the STAY LOW acronym, you have a practical tool to bring God into the process and overcome challenging food behaviors.
