I'll Do Anything To Get Healthy, Just Don't Take Away My Ice Cream

Welcome to the Dear Food Podcast, where we embark on a journey of health, joy, and food freedom. I'm Julia Fikse, your host, and I'm delighted to have you join me on this empowering path. Today, we're celebrating victories, both big and small, that have brought us closer to our goals. As we explore personal triumphs, we'll also delve into the powerful emotions that drive us to eat and the foods we turn to for comfort. Let's dive in!

Before we dive into the topic of emotional eating, let's take a moment to cherish the victories that have shaped our journey so far. Each step we take is a testament to our resilience and the support we receive from a higher power. If you have a victory you'd like to share in your journey to health, joy, and food freedom, please send it to julia@onesteptowellness.com, and I may feature it on the podcast. Celebrating together inspires hope and fosters a sense of community among listeners worldwide.

At times, certain foods can become like pacifiers, soothing us when life gets tough. However, as we mature, we need to recognize when these foods are no longer beneficial and may even be harmful to our health. Just like my struggle with pasta and frosting, identifying "binky foods" can be challenging, but with God's help, we can overcome their grip on our lives.

Breaking up with unhealthy foods may seem daunting, but it's a necessary step towards freedom. We can start by creating a list of foods that trigger emotional eating or lead to unhealthy eating decisions. Taking time to pray about these foods and seeking God's guidance allows us to replace the void left by their absence with prayer and healthier alternatives. In this process, we may discover a deeper relationship with the Lord and experience physical and mental health improvements.

Throughout our journey to food freedom, it's crucial to celebrate our victories. We can do this by writing about our achievements in a Victory Journal and sharing them with the Dear Food community. By supporting and encouraging each other, we build a strong foundation for lasting health and joy.

Thank you for joining me on this episode of the Dear Food Podcast. As we continue our journey to food freedom, let's remember that God is doing a new thing in our lives. We can break free from food strongholds with His help and embrace a healthier, more abundant life.
